An early morning shot of a Common Loon from the Semiahmoo spit near Blaine, Washington.  A single loon (the same one?) was out several morning in a row diving for food at the same spot very near the shore.   These birds are somewhat plain looking in the winter, but their summer/breeding plumage, as shown here, is very interesting!
