This past weekend the Historic Flight Foundation, an aircraft museum at Paine Field in Mukilteo Washington, sponsored a great event to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the D-Day invasion. The event included flights by a number of restored World War II aircraft, including the museum’s North American B-25D Mitchell bomber “Grumpy.” The photo above was shot from the museum grounds (the museum is located very close to the Paine Field runway) as Grumpy took off for a flight. It is a tribute to the unbelievable engineering that went into these aircraft, that more than 70 years later some of them are still flying on a regular basis.
