This group of Trumpeter Swans were swimming offshore yesterday afternoon in Lake Washington at the Union Bay Natural Area (also called the Montlake Fill) in Seattle. This is a great birding location that is only about ten minutes away from downtown Seattle.
There were a wide variety of birds in evidence, including the group of Bufflehead and the Hooded Merganser shown in the photos below, as well as Red-winged Blackbirds, Hawks, a wide variety of ducks including American Wigeons and Mallards, many Robins and a flock of Cedar Waxwings.
