I took this photo of foggy Picture Lake last week in the North Cascade mountains of Washington state.
I was participating in a photography workshop taught by Randall Hodges and hoped to get some dramatic shots of nearby Mt. Shuksan mirrored in the lake. Unfortunately, Mother Nature had other ideas. It was foggy during the entire 6-hour class and Mt. Shuksan never made an appearance.
While disappointing, it was still a great opportunity to learn and practice some landscape photography techniques. Besides, the lake looked amazing with the fog hovering over and around it.
Here’s a link to a photo of Mt. Shuksan that I took five years ago on a bright sunny day around the same time of year. Hard to believe both photos were taken at the same place!
