Columbia River Porcupine

Running Porcupine

I encountered a porcupine for the first time a few weeks ago while scouting for birds to photograph at Chelan Falls Park on the Columbia River. Fortunately I had my new Nikon 300mm f4/E PF lens on the camera and it was the perfect opportunity to test the telephoto lens. As one can imagine, I didn’t want to get too close to a porcupine! Here are a couple of shots taken with the 300mm f4 PF on a Nikon D500 body.

The level of detail on the porcupine’ s quills is pretty amazing in these photos. I think the 300mm f/4 PF lens is definitely a keeper.
