Anna’s Hummingbird in Early Evening Light

I love the amazing colors of Anna’s Hummingbirds, but they rarely sit still long enough to get good closeup photographs. So I was especially happy when this Anna’s perched on a cattail at the Edmonds marsh for several minutes and gave me a chance to take lots of closeup shots.

The early evening light worked great. With no glare from the sun you can see that the bird’s feathers are a variety of different shades of green and can also see a bit of the distinctive red around the bird’s head. It’s easy to see why people put out feeders to attract the beautiful little birds!
