I photographed the fall colors in Mount Rainier National Park a few weeks ago. This image from the trails above the Paradise Visitor Center is one of my favorites from the shoot.
The exact timing of the color change varies a bit every year. Colors start to turn in September and the best fall colors are found from the end of September through mid-October. These colors also change earlier at higher elevations.
This shot was taken on October 2 at Paradise which sits at 5,400 feet. Much of the vegetation had already changed to blazing red, orange and yellow colors. These are a striking foreground for the magnificent mountain.
