Burrowing Owls in Ephrata

Here are a few photos from way back in March 2026 of Burrowing Owls in Ephrata, Washington. Due to some life complications I haven’t posted much this year, so I’m catching up with some favorites from early in the year.

These little owls are one of my favorite birds. They have tons of character and are really fun to watch. I had received a tip of an approximate location for a Burrowing Owl in Ephrata, in central Washington. After a little hunting, I was lucky to first find one of the owls, then really surprised when a second one showed up!

I shot these photos from my car, shooting down a little bit at the birds as they scurried around on the ground. The birds didn’t seem to mind me as long as I stayed in the car.

The photo above is one of my favorites. The little owl really appears to be looking into the camera and posing for the photo.
