Barred Owl Photos

Owls are one of the birds that I really enjoy photographing. And one of the most challenging. They are hard to find, and when you find one, it’s often in a place without much light and half hidden in a tree or bush, making it hard to get a good photo. So I was especially excited to find this Barred Owl out in the open several times last week. If you look closely at the photo above, the owl has some sort of good-sized rodent in its talons. After I took the photo, the owl flew into a tall tree with its prize for breakfast.

The photo above was taken on another day when I again found the owl in the open sitting on a branch.
