A Horned Grebe in breeding plumage is one of my favorite water birds to photograph in the spring. Starting in early April the grebes begin the change into their amazing breeding colors shown in this photo. This is a Horned Grebe that I photographed in mid-April on the waterfront Edmonds, Washington.
