It’s almost the time of the year for Skagit Valley tulip photos. Every year in April the tulip gardens in Washington’s Skagit Valley come to life. So April’s a great time to head to the Skagit for some tulip photography.

The Skagit Valley is an hour north of Seattle so it’s an easy drive from there to take some Skagit Valley tulip photos. There are several farms and a variety of fields where tulips are grown and typically bloom in April. One of the best places to see and photograph tulips are the gardens and fields at Roozengaarde, one of the area’s main growers.

I took the two photos above in 2022 at Roozengaarde’s tulip garden. Every year the gardens are different so it’s worth a yearly visit. April’s Skagit Valley Tulip Festival is hosted by Roozengaarde and a number of other tulip growers. But even if you don’t stop at one of the growers, a drive around the area is well worth it. From the roads you can see many colorful tulip fields.
The exact dates for the “best time” to see the tulips varies due to the weather. In some years tulips begin to bloom in March and in other years they continue to bloom beyond April into May. Bloom status updates are available on the Tulip Festival’s website.
Below is a gallery containing some more of my Skagit Valley tulip photos. As with all of the photos on my website, these are available as traditional paper prints or prints on metal, canvas or acrylic. Shoot me an email or message me via my Contact page if you see something that interests you.
