Winter on the Edmonds Waterfront

I am very lucky to live only five minutes away from the Puget Sound waterfront in my town of Edmonds, Washington. The waterfront with its backdrop of the Olympic Mountains provides endless photography opportunities, including great bird photography from places like the public fishing pier in the photo above.

I recently had a story published in BirdWatching magazine that describes the great birdwatching (and associated photography) available on the waterfront and at the nearby marsh. (Click the BirdWatching link to read the story.) Unfortunately, there weren’t any photos with the story, so I am adding a few recent photos from the waterfront here.

Winter is an especially good time for birwatching on the waterfront when there are plenty of ducks, grebes, and geese to be found, as well as several Bald Eagles that are often perched on boat masts, old pilings or the harbor breakwater.
